It’s that time of year again. When we reminisce and recognize our team’s achievements from 2019, look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead, and savor every bite of the tacos that fill our bellies.
Yes, it’s Ambit’s 2020 Kick Off Party.
This year we celebrated by volunteering at Feed My Starving Children and wrapped up with dinner and our awards ceremony at Blanco Tacos (yum!).
Feed My Starving Children
Feed My Starving Children is a wonderful charity that provides life-saving supplies and support to impoverished children and families. In 2019, they sent food to 65 different countries and reinvest 98.9% of income received on its programs and services.
We chose to ‘kick off’ our 2020 Kick Off Party by volunteering our time with this organization, packing food boxes for individuals in need in the Philippines.
They purchase all of the raw ingredients for the meals, including soy, rice, vegetables and a vitamin and mineral vegetarian chicken flavoring mix. The food has been designed by food scientists at Cargill and General Mills to meet the nutritional needs of malnourished 4- to 8-year-old children. Similar to a very nutritious Top Ramen (that’s what it smelled like too), the recipient simply needs to add boiling water and it’s ready to eat.
As a team, we packed 31 cases containing 36 pouches of pre-packed food during this year’s event (and yes, we packed the most out of the 100+ volunteers – oh yeah!). We had a great time at this packing event and look forward to working with them again in the future!
About Feed My Starving Children
Feed My Starving Children helps stand in the gap to provide the things that needy, hurting people may need to survive and become self-sufficient. FMHC’s humanitarian projects are committed to helping children and their families around the world. Our relief efforts are focused on: providing education, clothing, food, and medical help to children; providing health and nutritional training for families and parents of deprived children; helping communities through micro-enterprise and sustainable gardening projects; providing nutritious food to children; engaging in community development projects to help impoverished families work toward self-sufficiency; and providing education, food, nutritional training, clothing, medical help, and other necessities of life to those in need, including impoverished children and their families. They send about 300 million pouches of food each year.
“We have such a dedicated team it even extends to their immediate family. For example, Audrey the Pom, spent the day packing for Feed my Starving Puppies while we volunteered at Feed My Starving Children.
I’m so proud of her and her commitment to her community,” shared Matt Ford.
After our volunteer work, we headed to Blanco Tacos!
At Blanco Tacos we resumed the celebrations with an awards ceremony and delicious food! What were the awards, you ask? Here’s a recap!
