At Ambit, we recognize that our team members are committed to the continuous improvement and development of their personal and professional lives, and each of these paths to greatness looks different.
This month we got the chance to sit down with Business Manager, Jade Dye, to learn more about her ‘land surveying’ journey, her thoughts on Ambit, and more.
“As Business Manager, Jade sits at the center of almost everything at Ambit,” shared Matt Ford, Ambit President. “In just one short year she’s implemented new policies and procedures which have had an immediate positive impact for our team. In such a high-profile position, Jade is consistently in the spotlight. If she’s performing well, we all know it, but if she makes mistakes everyone can easily see that too. Luckily, she never does, that’s why we call her Iceman, because that’s the way she flies, ice-cold, no mistakes…Sorry, I just rewatched Top Gun for like the 100th time and I am in that zone. The Danger Zone, or at least on the highway to it….. Damn it! Sorry...Seriously though, we truly feel like we lucked out with Jade. She’s been an amazing addition to the team, she fits right in with the way we work, she’s 100% Ambitonian, and she’s been killing it since day one (which involved her flying out of state to start training in a stranger’s home in a remote location near El Mirage, AZ, but that’s another story altogether)!”
Q: When you were young, what did you imagine doing when you grew up?
I imagined myself being a Veterinarian or working with animals in some capacity. I’ve always loved animals! I even had a pet squirrel that I rescued as a baby a few years ago.
Q: Why did you decide to join the Ambit team?
I was looking for a small business with remote work available to give me the ability to be home with my pups throughout the day. Leaving them to go to work every morning was heartbreaking!
Q: What do you feel sets Ambit apart from other companies in the industry?
Ambit has core values that we carry throughout our team and our work. We are consistent and reliable, open-minded, and all-around pleasant to work with. We value quality in our work and it shows!
Q: What does a day in the life of your role at Ambit look like?
I manage the admin side of Ambit. I start my day by going through emails and answering client questions. I send out quotes and process purchase orders. I communicate with PMs about site updates and keep our project management system updated to make sure we are all on track. On slower days, I get to plan company get-togethers!
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at Ambit?
I genuinely feel cared for as a person here at Ambit. I feel comfortable communicating my needs and prioritizing a work/life balance. I’ve never been a part of a company that feels like family more than working for Ambit.
“Fun fact about Jade: She doesn’t get sarcasm, at all (feel free to use that information how you see fit). The first 6 months at Ambit had to be so very confusing for her! Thanks for putting up with us Jade!” shared Matt Ford.
Q: What’s your favorite way to spend your free time?
On my days off, I love taking my two pups out on hikes, getting meals with friends, planning camping trips, etc.
Q: What is the last show you watched/binged on Netflix?
I’m not really a TV kind of girl, but I did enjoy rewatching Vikings recently.
Q: Where is your favorite place to vacation?
Anywhere with interesting wildlife and delicious food. I’m always planning my trips around authentic food. I also love planning my yearly rockhounding trips in Southern Oregon.
Q: What is your drink of choice?
A glass of cabernet. If I’m feeling crazy, a shot of tequila.
Q: Who do you find inspiration from?
I find inspiration from my family and friends, young and old. Sometimes I learn more from the younger ones! My dogs inspire me to get outside every day and prioritize exercise. Without them, I might end up being more potato than human.
Q: What are some of the most important things you’ve learned in your first year with Ambit?
Everyone gets in the groove of their job and daily routine. Sometimes the way things are being done is just because they’ve always been done that way. I’ve learned to not be afraid to present new ideas. You’d be surprised how just a little change can benefit the whole team.
Q: What do you do to promote self-care and take care of your mental well-being?
I love making myself a cup of tea and going to bed early!
